My name is Doug Miles and I am the owner of Logical Logistics, LLC. I have spent the better part of 20 years earning a living buying and selling transportation services. I started my career as a dock supervisor with Consolidated Freightways (CF), the 3rd largest less-than-truckload (LTL) company in the United States at that time. Following a number of successful assignments, my career progressed to the point where I was assigned to CF’s corporate headquarters in California as the Senior Logistics Manager for CF’s Hewlett Packard account.
After many challenging and fulfilling years, I eventually left Consolidated Freightways to start my own 3rd party logistics (3PL) company, Starr Air and Transportation. With a team of great people, I grew Starr’s annual revenue to over $2 million/year. At Starr, my primary focus was on providing clients with logistical solutions for air, truckload, expedited, and ocean freight transportation. We also served our clients by advising them on how to solve distribution and warehousing issues. Like many hardworking people, our team at Starr was hit hard by the 2010 financial crisis. Many of my customers slowed production in response to decreasing demand or, unfortunately, went out of business entirely as a result of difficult business conditions. With multiple aspects of the logistics business affected by the crisis, during this period I worked overseas in Afghanistan for a large US corporation as a logistics contractor for several years. This was something of a return to the 20+ years I spent as in the US Air Force and Reserve as an aircraft Loadmaster. While in the Air Force I deployed multiple times to hostile threat environments, including Panama, Somalia, and various places in the Middle East, in support of US operations.
I am now applying the decades of experience I have gained working at multiple levels in the logistics business to advise manufactures and distributors on the most effective ways to reduce their transportation costs. Over the years I have successfully negotiated millions of dollars worth of transportation contracts and can honestly say that my passion is assisting and advising companies on how to effectively and efficiently manage their logistical operations. I know how to get the lowest price for freight movement, and I want to share my knowledge with you to add profits to your bottom line.
